From my iPhone

Your rating: None

Right. Another post then

I've been quite agressive with my posts this evening.

I'm trying to do this more often. However, without telling the world.

At the moment I'm lying in bed. In the heat. Typing this on my iPhone, hoping the killer bugs don't get me tonight. LOL

Hospital tomorrow morning. Nothing to worry about. Making my first ever solo trip to the hospital though. All part of getting old I'm sure

Well at least I get half a day off for it!

Manifesto 01

I wrote this posting initially for Seth Godin's new Triiibes. Still am not sure about the triple-i, but I would imagine it has to do with the need for the focus on I (sounds a bit like Anthem I suppose—if you don't get it it, read the book; it's one of my favorites). And my photo is now updated, thanks to help from Mackenzie at Ning.

There is a lot of idea-sharing and befriending activity at Triiibes. This is likely to be reduced after Triiibes is open to the general population, but right now everyone feels like they are in an exclusive club and perhaps are collectively justifying its initial exclusivity.

iPhone 3G Release date for India

Your rating: None

According to Technews the iPhone release date for India will be August 22nd. (See list of countries at TUAW).

Technews says that the gadget will be priced at around Rs. 20,000 (Approx USD 500). This is not a bad price at all in India, in fact it is very competitive in my opinion. I remember 5 years back spending Rs. 10,000 on a Color Screen Sony Ericsson phone (Yes, Color screen was the latest technology during that time). I used to play Alien Ship on that phone so madly.

Tim Bray works for Sun Microsystems. He is an influential blogger, takes photographs, writes essay length pieces.

Now, you know about iPhone, a bit about Google’s Android, which is an SDK without hardware and we’ve mentioned open source contender Open Moko. You know Apple’s environment is closed source. Actually, let’s say Apple’s culture is closed source. So much so that developers for the iPhone are under Non Disclosure Agreements (NDAs). Apple will control  absolutely, because it is intrinsic to their business model, which apps can run on the iPhone. And those apps will only be available via the store which Apple provide.

2x Growth in iPhone Apps in 2 Weeks

Your rating: None

Just dropped by the iPhone AppStore to see if any new health & wellness applications have been added to the site since the post I did on July 23rd.

Imagine my surprise in seeing some 64 separate iPhone apps - a doubling of the number of apps in 2 short weeks.

Now the question is: Will we see continued exponential growth and if so, for how long?  Or will it quickly plateau once it reaches a critical mass of the main apps consumers seek?

One thing is for sure, if it continues at this rate, Apple will have to re-categorize apps to make them easier to find and select.

Mh,

This is My Last "I Am Rich" Post--I Swear!

...or, at least, the last one until further developments demand additional coverage.

I don't know anything about the application's developer, Armin Heinrich. But it's intriguing that his name includes the phrase "I Am Rich," with the letters slightly rearranged.

Oh, and "Armin Heinrich" is also an anagram of "A Rich Inner Him." With I Am Rich gone from Apple's App Store, though, Heinrich's wealth may be destined to be spiritual rather than in the form of great wads of cash derived from iPhone application sales...

It's already been two months since I moved to San Francisco. It's both a terrible amount shorter than my perception, and longer. The place is still new to me, but the vibe and people are not. It's a familiar atmosphere with new things to see and do, which is why I officially withdrew from the ITP program at NYU to stick around and see where things take me.
